YTL Construction takes pride in building life-changing infrastructure to inspire people and nations, from constructing infrastructure in the residential and property sectors, to hospitals, power and cement plants, railways, telco towers, resorts and hotels for over 60 years.

In early 2022, we started to look at venturing into other sectors where we could contribute our vast experience and expertise. For diversification purposes, we are going into the industrial sector, undertaking projects like warehouses and data centres. This is also in line with our belief in building things that are worthy and long lasting.

ALP 'OMega' Warehouse Bukit Raja

Recently, we were awarded the warehouse project with Ally Logistic Property (ALP), the largest warehousing infrastructure developer in Taiwan. This warehouse, also known as OMega, is a three-storey warehouse that we are going to construct entirely. It will be a smart warehousing facility, featuring the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS system) to enhance efficiency.

Building high-tech logistics facilities will boost the logistics industry, in line with our country’s aspirations of becoming a regional e-commerce hub, while

empowering local brands in their digital transformation journey to reach new markets and unlock wealth. The OMega warehouse is situated right next to the Bukit Raja Warehouse, which is our first warehouse project that is still on-going.

YTL Green Data Centre Park

As a Group, YTL is shifting towards investing in more sustainable, renewable energy (RE) solutions. YTL Power International acquired Kulai Young Estate Johor in January 2022 with the aim of developing the land into a large-scale solar power facility with a generation capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW). This visionary project will be known as the YTL Green Data Centre Park, which will be the first data centre campus in Malaysia! We are partnering with GDS Holding Ltd. to collaborate on the development of 168 megawatts (MW) of data centre capacity.

We look forward to this collaboration as GDS is a leading developer and operating high-performance data centres in China. The YTL Green Data Centre Park is envisioned to serve a growing demand in

the region for sustainable and cost-efficient data centre solutions. The first phase of the co-development is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2024.

Our Managing Director of YTL Construction and YTL Power International, Dato’ Hong, had the following to say about the project. “We are excited to partner with GDS, one of the largest data centre companies in the world, to anchor our world-class green data centre campus in Johor. Our shared vision for a truly integrated, sustainable energy-powered facility with dedicated dark fibre capacity is an exciting one and will position it as the place to be for hyperscalers and co-location customers alike.”

What’s more commendable is that the YTL Green Data Centre Park will be powered by on-site renewable solar energy! We are building our own solar farm to power the data centre. The solar farm is now in the design and authority approval stage.

William Huang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GDS (L) with Hann Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Power International (R) signed the agreement in collaboration of the data centre

Being given the trust to construct Malaysia’s first data centre campus is a testament to YTL’s proven track record of infrastructure development spanning more than 60 years.

Nusajaya Data Centre

Just as importantly, we recently completed the piling work for the Nusajaya Data Centre! It is located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. It is also a hyperscale data centre project initiated by GDS Holdings Ltd. On top of this, we have submitted a tender for the main building works and are currently preparing the tender for M&E works!

YTL Construction wants to be at the forefront of digitalisation to take the nation to greater heights and become the key player in the market.
