Welcome to our Transformation 2.0 Town Hall Round-Up!

In August, we had our quarterly Transformation 2.0 Town Hall where our leaders presented us with important updates on the projects, OKRs, Culture Events and Initiatives, and many more! If you missed it, or want a recap, you can read all about it in our Town Hall Round-Up below!

We are in quarter two of the second year of our Transformation 2.0 journey. It is a good time to take a step back and reflect, to think of the directions we want to go in the next few years and where we are currently. With ongoing projects and tenders, let’s continue to work on our goal to be the No. 1 construction company in Malaysia. At this stage, we need high perseverance to trust in the journey and push forward.

Innovation Update

Well done to the Accounts, Contracts, and HSE Departments for achieving their 100% target in Q2! To the other departments, do not give up and continue to work on your OKRs. We know you have been working very hard to achieve your targets. OKR helps us to focus on becoming the No. 1 construction company in Malaysia.

Project Updates

We had the groundbreaking ceremony on 25 August 2022 for the Sea Data Centre with the Johor head of government, Datuk Onn Hafiz bin Dato’ Ghazi in attendance. We have completed the earthworks and the superstructure works are ongoing. This visionary project will be known as the YTL Green Data Centre Park, which will be the first data centre campus in Malaysia and will be solar-powered!

We were awarded the warehouse project with Ally Logistic Property (ALP), the largest warehousing infrastructure developer in Taiwan. We have signed the Letter of Award and the earthwork has started. This warehouse, also known as OMega, will be a smart warehousing facility, featuring the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS system) to enhance efficiency and as a result, have a positive impact in the logistics industry.

For our Gemas-JB project, we are on track to complete it by the end of June 2023. We want to thank everyone who is involved in this project! We know you are working hard to ensure the project will be a success. Let’s persevere until the end and have satisfaction when it starts operating.

Great news! We are developing a RM200m gross development value (GDV) residential project at Kwasa Damansara. It is a 12.7-acre land known as plot R2-1 and will entail the construction of 1.5-storey townhouses and three-storey landed terrace houses, alongside a 1.28-acre central park and 2.71-acre linear park. The homes will have built-up areas of between 1,200 sq. ft and 2,300 sq. ft. Kwasa Land Managing Director, Mohamad Hafiz Kassim said YTL was selected following a robust process where it showed its ability, solid track record and desire to deliver residential offerings with exceptional quality — in line with the demand of current homebuyers.

We have recently submitted a tender for Kwasa PJ East. It is a 441 acres project where it will house 9030 homes, a mixture of landed houses and condominiums.

We are also preparing tender documents for the mega project MRT3 for submission by 30 September 2022. The planned MRT3 route is about  51km and will comprise 31 stations. Additionally, the line will also have sufficient “park & ride” facilities and first- and last-mile connectivity via a bus network. Upon completion, the MRT3 will carry 180, 300 passengers daily and up to 1.01m by 2060.

We cannot emphasise enough that mental health is vital in our lives today. We wear many hats today leading to more expectations and challenges in our lives. We may unknowingly feel mentally or emotionally strained and this may cause negative emotions if we do not take a pause to unwind or reflect. Simply scan the available QR code to book your free slot. The updated Employment (Amendment) Act 2022 is scheduled to be enforced on 1 September 2022 onwards. We will update everyone on the details of the policies when the Act comes into force!

In June 2022, we launched our Mentoring Programme starting with our first cohort of 27 pairs of mentors and mentees. We are committed to building people and creating mentoring cultures to leverage on the experience we have!

YTL Learning Academy Updates

The English Assessment was a good drill to give our company a gauge of our English proficiency. From the results, we would like to develop more employees to be Upper-Intermediate speakers, readers, and writers. We will also plan training for the Elementary and Pre-Intermediate levels. However, this is depending on the requirements of your job scope. In view of this, the YTL Learning Academy is working on the next steps to grow everyone’s language skills. Are you wondering how did you score for the test? We are publishing your scores to you personally!

We have an E-Library published on our FrogAsia portal catered to provide self-e-learning courses for you. The available courses cover wide areas of themes including management, leadership, and skill-sets. There are also other resources such as videos, articles, and podcasts for your convenience.

ASPIRE is a club of young people until 35 years old to really encourage the growth and support young people in our organisation. However, it is also for people who are young at heart. Even if you are at site or anyone who wants to plan badminton sessions, feel free to contact the ASPIRE team.

We have a new event in the company which is the monthly movie night open to everyone in KL. In August, we played a movie by the late Yasmin Ahmad in line with our National Day celebration. Our monthly movie night comes with free popcorn and snacks! The venue will be at the Townhall, Level 8 in Menara YTL. We are planning for another movie night in September! Congratulations to our Lunch Lotto winners! Every month, we select ten people randomly to gather and connect over lunch. It’s an opportunity for you to engage with other colleagues in the company. The Events team organises the event and is paid for by the company. We want to encourage interdepartmental interaction for people to get to know each other better.

We also want to take this opportunity to acknowledge our Merdeka Marching Team who worked hard at all the practices and rehearsals for our nation’s 65th National Day celebration. The practice and rehearsal sessions were conducted in the early mornings throughout August, and the team was always energetic about the sessions. The discipline they displayed by waking up in the wee hours of the morning and yet the excitement to march are admirable. The dedication, discipline, and love they show to our country are impeccable. Our volunteers marched in Dataran Merdeka on 31st August to 

represent our company as a Group. Thank you once again for your love and endless support to our organisation and country!
