YTL Construction Wishes You a Happy Thaipusam!

Happy Thaipusam!

Thaipusam is a temple festival celebrated by Hindus worldwide. Thaipusam is celebrated on the month of “Thai”, on the day when the moon passes through the star “pusam”. The most popular ritual is the carrying of the kavadi which means “sacrifice at every step”. Most female devotees carry a pot of milk called a palkuddam on their head. This is done to ask for forgiveness, keep a vow or offer thanks to their Lord. The devotees who intend to perform their rituals and prayers on Thaipusam day are customarily required to observe strict physical and mental discipline. Throughout the month of Thai, purification of the body is a necessity. This includes taking vegetarian meals and practicing sexual abstinence. Some devotees also fast on the eve of Thaipusam before performing their rituals. On Thaipusam day, the temples will be decorated with colorful flowers & bright lamps. The devotees go to temples and fulfill their vows, offer prayers and seek spiritual solace. The Directors and Management of YTL Construction would like to take this opportunity and wish all our Hindu staff a happy and blessed Thaipusam!
