Construction Manager

1. What is your current job title?
I am a Construction Manager based at the Kluang Main Office, in Johor Darul Takzim. 

2. How long have you been working in YTL Construction?
YTL was my first employer out of university and at the time, I was assigned to the ERL project back in the year 2000. Then, I left the company in mid-2002 before I rejoined YTL in 2019 for the CRJGR project, making my total service length with the company about five and a half years.

3. What sort of duties do you have at work? 
My responsibilities include overseeing the construction progress of system subcontractors, as well as coordination work, particularly on the electrification system. However, my role has recently changed to leading the system process control team in the overall management of quality assurance and implementation processes.

4. Do you have any mentors in your professional life? 
I don’t have any specific mentors, but I have a strong desire to learn from great corporate leaders such as our very own Chairman Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, the renowned Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhari, and Air Asia’s CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes. 

5. What is the most exciting part of your job?
I love what I do and the most exciting part of my job is commissioning the construction work system with standard compliance and satisfying our client. 

6. What kind of music do you like?
I enjoy listening to slow rock music, be it English or Malay songs.  

7. Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies? 
I think my hidden talent is being gifted as a problem solver and always taking the initiative to tackle any difficulty that arises.

8. What’s something you find challenging about your work? 
Dealing with people who are hard headed. 

9. If you could play an instrument, what would it be? 
I would love to play the drums.

10. Are you a sports fan? 
Yes, I certainly am. My favourite is our Malaysian badminton team. Â
