It is almost time for Earth Hour which is happening this Saturday, 25 March 2023 at 8.30pm. Whilst the vision and mission of this initiative remain the same after 17 years, the urgency to achieve them grows rapidly, especially with the increasing frequency of extreme environmental events. Many of us still have the privilege of living comfortably out of reach of extreme climate events, but more and more people around the world are affected, and one day, it could affect you. Thus, awareness and advocacy about climate change matters is desperately needed.

Turning off the lights for an hour provides an opportunity for change. The power of the people can be harnessed to turn a single Earth Hour into thousands and millions of hours of action and awareness, creating a ripple effect of impact that continues beyond the 60 minutes. Over 51,000 people* from 140 countries* have pledged an hour for Earth on the website, with roughly 28,000 hours* going towards learning more about the planet.

What can I watch to learn about the planet?

There are many nature-themed documentaries, docu-series and films for people to watch and learn more about the environment. Depending on your attention span, there are hour-long documentaries, docu-series with multiple episodes and fun animated films to choose from. These are easily digestible and can help you in your journey to learn about and reconnect with the planet. Take time during Earth Hour to watch some of the recommendations below!

It is imperative that we act NOW, and action only comes when one is aware of the problem. So, use this Earth Hour to build your knowledge of climate change and raise awareness with people around you! Let us create #TheBiggestHourForEarth this 25 March by spending 60 minutes doing something, anything, positive for our planet.

Together, we can help in Making A Good Future Happen.
