Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating awareness of the present moment by intentionally paying attention on breathing exercises with a targeted focal point. This practice creates a positive impact on our mental health and overall well-being. Practicing this at the workplace, will enable you to handle stressful situations and decision-making processes in a calm manner. This can lead to greater job satisfaction. The goal is to be in a better headspace and be stress-free, or at least have lower stress levels.

Here are some tips on how you can be more present and productive at work:

  • Go from the “doing” mode to just “being”, train the mind by sitting down and focusing on your breathing and body
  • Incorporate mindfulness into your daily life – pay attention to what you’re doing
  • Pause and go outside, being in nature ignites our senses and helps bring us back to the present moment. For instance, if you’re in Menara YTL, you can visit the stone garden on level 8 – a great place to reset and bring you to the present moment
  • Give your brain and body a break, take a stroll and pay attention to the sensation of walking
  • Dedicate a time daily to focus on something or someone you are grateful for

These techniques help you slow down and gain positivity, especially if you feel like you’re at the edge of burnout. Mindfulness cultivates an inner sense of calm with numerous health benefits. The best thing is, these practices are easy and do not take long. Give it a try and you’ll see a definite improvement to your day.
