2022 saw the emergence, sequels and the inevitable end to many incredible TV shows with great stories and lessons such as The Bear, House of the Dragon, Station Eleven, The Crown and Better Call Saul to name a few. While it may seem hard to compete with last year’s watchlist, 2023 is proving to be a promising year of peak TV entertainment with many more lessons to be learned. So, here’s quick rundown of shows you can look forward to tuning in for the year.

HBO’s The Last of Us

The Last of Us

Premieres on HBO, 15th January

If you’re thinking about how you’re going to ‘stay alive’ amidst your busy work schedules and deadlines this year, you wouldn’t want to have the lives of the two main characters of HBO’s adaptations of The Last of Us. Based off the 2013 critically-acclaimed action-adventure video game which was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, the series follows the two main protagonists, Joel and Ellie, in a zombie post-apocalyptic world. Starring Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay, this upcoming series feels primed for greatness and could usher in a new generation of video game adaptations.

Netflix’s You

You

Premieres on Netflix, 9th February

If there’s anything this show has taught us, your personal and most valuable information can be found by anyone online just with a click of a button*. Penn Badgley’s psychopathic killer Joe Goldberg is back for season 4 of You and this time Joe is headed to the UK, where he has rebranded himself as a professor.

HBO’s Succession

Succession

Premieres on HBO in April/May

Navigating your way in a family-owned conglomerate is no easy feat and Succession takes family and business drama to new heights.

The end of Season 3 saw perhaps one of the largest shifts and featured one of its best performances in the expression on Shiv’s (Sarah Snook) face when she realizes her husband Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) betrayed her by telling Logan (Brian Cox) about her and her siblings’ plan to take him down. With how things were left of, Season 4 will pick up from this shocking turn of events and deal with the fallout.

Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & The Six

Daisy Jones & The Six

Premieres on Prime Video, 3rd March

Let’s step out of our office shoes and step into some glorious (and uncomfortable) high platform rock star boots for a sec. Based on Taylor Jenkin Reid’s bestselling novel, Daisy Jones & The Six follows a Fleetwood Mac-inspired 1970s rock band as they get big—and then implode—in Los Angeles. Filmed in the style of a mock documentary style, the miniseries stars Riley Keough, Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse in a tale of romance, drama and a sprinkle of what happens when the allure of fame wears off and stars go looking for something more.

Disney’s The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian

Premieres on Disney+ Hotstar, 1st March

It feels like a lifetime since Grogu caressed the stubbled jaw of Din Djarin in the heartbreaking Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, and while The Book of Boba Fett reunited the clan of two, it’s high time that the series returns for Season 3. In this new season of The Mandalorian, we’ll learn what it takes for Din to step up to the role of Mandalore’s leader and in turn, wield the Darksaber.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion

Premieres on Disney+ Hotstar

Samuel Jackson’s Nick Fury sets a great example to what it means to be a great leader to a team of superheroes and we can’t wait to finally see him take centerstage in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Unlike previous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects in the past few years, the first trailer for Secret Invasion has a dark tone to it, almost more akin to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As one of the first TV projects in Phase Five, this latest phase looks to be off to a good start as the show was created by Mr. Robot’s writer Kyle Bradstreet with a cast set to feature big names such as Emilia Clarke, Martin Freeman, and Olivia Colman.

Netflix’s The Way of the Househusband

The Way of the Househusband

Premieres on Netflix, 1st January 2023

Having premiered its first season in 2021, The Way of the Househusband received mixed reviews due to the show’s animation style but that didn’t stop the show’s growing viewership. The written Japanese manga series turned tv show follows an ex-yakuza member who retires from crime to become a househusband. If you’re looking for inspiration on how you can turn your life around, we highly recommend you dive into the legendary “Immortal Dragon” Tatsu’s world.
