If you work in Menara YTL or have visited, you would have definitely bumped into one of these smartly dressed gentlemen. Meet the Guardians of Menara YTL. Not only do they protect us, but the presence of this trio creates an atmosphere of warmth as you step into Menara YTL.

From left to right: Rahim Kamaruddin, Ram Bahadur, and Subramaniam

Ram Bahadur, affectionately known as Uncle Ram, is the Chief of Security; Rahim Kamaruddin or Rahim, serves as the Supervisor of Security; and Subramaniam, fondly known as Uncle Maniam, holds a position of a Security Officer. They provide us a sense of security in the building, ensuring order and safety of all tenants as well as visitors. Throughout the conversation, it is obvious how well they bond over their shared experience and deep sense of purpose.

With his wise eyes and warm smile, Uncle Ram shares that he has been committed to his role for over a decade, specifically 13 years. His dedication and commitment are evident in the way he diligently monitors and ensures a smooth security system, enabling him to make quick decisions in the face of adversity.

Rahim, with an equally impressive 13-year tenure, works closely with Uncle Ram in managing the security system. He conducts tests and initiates necessary procedures to ensure the system operates efficiently. The ever-vigilant Uncle Maniam has contributed to the overall security efforts alongside Uncle Ram and Rahim during his 9 years with the company.

Despite having to face a fair share of challenges, they look forward to the day ahead at work. Uncle Ram shared his belief in leaving personal troubles at the door and finding joy in every moment. During our chat, I can see their genuine interest in meeting and interacting with people from all walks of life. They enjoy the small perks of their job, including the generosity of the staff who share delicious food with them.

Throughout their years of service, there were undoubtedly memorable moments that stood out for these dedicated individuals. Uncle Ram cherishes the occasion when his son was selected as a YTL scholar and eventually secured a job in YTL. Rahim found fulfilment in handling a significant case that required close cooperation with the authorities, demonstrating his commitment to protecting the building and its occupants.

Amidst the many meaningful encounters, it’s always the small gestures that touch hearts the most. For Uncle Maniam, it was a heart-warming encounter with Tan Sri Francis back in Plaza YTL. There was a day when Uncle Maniam’s tie was loose. Noticing this, Tan Sri Francis stopped to personally adjust it. The simple personal act left an indelible mark on Uncle Maniam.

Their story is more than just dedication, unity, and unwavering commitment. It is a testament to the love they pour into their work and the relationships they have built. The dedication that they uphold extends beyond the building’s entrance, as they gracefully balance work and family lives. Each day, they embrace positivity and kindness, forming lasting bonds with those they encounter. Within the walls of the building, they have formed a close-knit family, showing the real power of human connection.

Be sure to say hi and greet them with a friendly smile whenever you see them at the lobby or the connecting bridge between Menara YTL and The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur. You will make their day! Â
