You might be wondering what can you possibly do in a city that you’ve been living in for years? Trust me – A LOT! There is so much yet to explore. Well, you might be short on time or simply can’t deal with the hassle or even cost of staying overnight. Fret not, we’ve got it all covered!

Here are some of the most exciting trips you can make in KL and Selangor within a day:

Drive out to Sekinchan

Known as “the land of fish and rice”, you might be surprised with what Sekinchan, a small-town village located in the Sabak Bernam district, has to offer. You can cover the main attractions in a day but be sure to start your journey early. It’s best to visit from mid-March to May and mid-September to November, where you will encounter lush rice paddies. Check out our recommendations of what you can do while you are there:

  • Visit the beautiful stretches of paddy fields, an iconic landscape of the quaint town. Very Instagrammable!

  • Seafood being the main source of protein for the locals, you will be able to find a row of seafood restaurants along the fishing jetties. The seafood is of course, super fresh and prices are relatively cheaper than KL too!

  • Dine at N16 Café, a refurbished bus cafe elevated on a container surrounded by the paddy fields. Another Instagram-worthy spot!

  • Consider visiting the neighbouring Kuala Selangor to visit the Sky Mirror – a shallow sandbank that appears only during low tides. As the name suggests, this is where the ground reflects the sky. And if you are willing to stay until night time, go on the firefly tour!

Kebun-kebun visit in Bangsar

(Source: The Smart Local)

There is a hidden gem nestled right in the heart of Bangsar. Behind its small entrance is an urban community garden and farm that sits on a hill in a residential area with a view of the city’s skyline. This place is home to friendly farm animals, blooming flowers and sprouting vegetables. The animals here roam freely and you can feed them by purchasing their food at the small hut just after the entrance. The crops are harvested and distributed to the underprivileged and soup kitchens. If you need a family-friendly nature spot to unwind in the city, this is the place. And to top that, entrance is FREE!

ATV Adventure Park in Kampung Kemensah

Feel the adrenaline rush and prepare yourself for a thrilling ride into nature with an off-road ATV ride at one of the largest ATV Adventure Park in Kampung Kemensah. Blaze through the jungle to your destination of choice: perhaps a 7-tier Waterfall, a refreshing dip in the Sofea Jane Waterfall, a magnificent view of Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Gate Dam through the Bukit Tabur or Dam Ride, or even a half-day thrill ride along rough terrain and river beds. Whichever your destination, you can expect rough terrain, bumpy hills, muddy holes and unexpected slopes between the shady tall trees along the way. Definitely for the thrill-seekers who enjoy exciting outdoor activities!
