In the last issue, we talked about how we can participate in Earth Hour from a voluntary perspective. Today, we will share some of the initiatives spearheaded by WWF in both Malaysia and Singapore, which we can also participate in to echo our voices for the planet.
WWF-Malaysia
WWF-Malaysia’s focus remains on #Connect2Earth by taking action to help save wildlife, forests and ourselves. Wildlife is key to a healthy forest ecosystem, which we need for clean air, fresh water, climate change mitigation, soil stability and recreation. We must protect nature as it is vital for our survival, comfort and prosperity.
WWF-Singapore
WWF-Singapore introduced “The Singapore Kosong Plan”, a commitment that brings businesses, organisations and individuals together to help achieve a low carbon, climate-resilient country. Inspired by the concept of living less, the Kosong Plan aims to encourage climate action that we can partake in every day.
Move towards a more plant-based diet and choose locally produced food with lower environmental impacts. By eating consciously, you can greatly reduce emissions.
Be more mindful of your purchase decisions and their impacts on the environment. Opt for second hand where possible.
Take public transport or walk whenever possible to reduce your carbon footprint, and look for carbon offsets if you need to fly.
Make the switch to renewable energy and help phase out the use of fossil fuels. Go one step further by using energy efficient appliances.
Restoring, safeguarding and managing to help build climate resilience. Join Singapore’s efforts by getting involved in activities like tree planting.
