Wild tigers are being hunted for their body parts – their skin, bones, blood and other parts mainly fuelled by the illegal wildlife poaching trade. This trade in endangered species is worth around RM70 billion a year. Additionally, the tigers’ natural habitat is being decimated, which increases the risk of human/animal conflict.

This year, YTL is once again proud to support Save Wild Tigers. Since our first major event in 2014 at the Majestic Hotel in KL to create awareness of  anti-poaching activities – together with Save Wild Tigers and Wildlife Conservation Society – we continue to march on with our support for Save Wild Tigers.  However, we’re up against several challenges – an illegal wildlife trade network that spans the globe and is largely hidden from view, deforestation, habitat loss, and human-animal conflict. This is why increased awareness and action are so desperately needed.

Eye on The Tiger Photo Exhibition

Save Wild Tigers has enlisted over 30 of the world’s best award-winning professional photographers to create the world’s largest wild tiger photographic exhibition.

The tiger exhibition features over 60 stunning images of these majestic creatures. The exhibition will bring attention not just globally, but across Malaysia to this endangered species. In Malaysia alone numbers are sharply down and we have potentially as few as 100 Malayan tigers left in the wild.

Renowned photographers from across the globe – including the USA, the UK, Germany, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Australia, Russia, Japan, Germany, India and Malaysia – have very generously donated their time and photographic rights to exhibit and sell their beautiful photographs to help raise funds to protect tigers in the wild

The exhibition has once again secured a long term partner YTL, as the lead sponsor by donating the exhibition venues at The Starhill and Lot 10 in KL and additional support from YTL Hotels.

The media launch took place during the early evening of 21st September at The Starhill, hosted by Elaine Daly with numerous personalities from the conservation, art and entertainment world attending.

The exhibition in Malaysia is currently running from 22nd September to 8th October at The Starhill, , 9th October – 22nd October at Lot 10 in Kuala Lumpur. Profits from the sale of selected images will go towards Save Wild Tigers’ Malaysian conservation partners – The Habitat Foundation and RIMAU.

Quotes from the event:

Ruth Yeoh, Executive Director YTL

“We cannot afford to lose tigers in the wild. As an apex predator, their role in maintaining balance in forest ecosystems is not only necessary, it is critical. YTL Group supports the conservation and protection of all species including spiders, snails, flying foxes, turtles, and proboscis monkeys, but the tiger is also an important symbol for our beautiful country. Rampant tigers have supported the shield on the Malaysian coat of arms, and it is now our turn to support them.”

Simon Clinton, founder of Save Wild Tigers

“With only around 5,000 tigers left in the wild globally and under 100 Malayan tigers left in the wild, time is running out to save this majestic species from extinction. Through this stunning exhibition, we want to inspire the public to join us and act to save, surely one of the planet’s most beautiful & captivating species for future generations.”
