If you’ve ever come across the Mandarin saying “望子成龍, which translates to “hopeful for one’s son to become a dragon,” you’ve likely sensed the weight of aspirations and dreams it carries. In fact, the phenomenon goes beyond words and into statistics.

Plenty of research have been conducted over the years to conclude that more babies are born on average during the Year of the Dragon, prompting us to ask: Why?

Before delving into the answers, let’s take a quick look at some intriguing numbers to dispel any skepticism. The trend of Dragon Babies goes beyond a mere spike in birth rates as those born in the Year of the Dragon tend to exhibit more successful careers. Astonishingly, statistics reveal based on a study conducted in China that individuals born in this zodiac year are 14% more likely to attain qualifications like a bachelor’s degree or higher.

But what’s behind this seemingly magical correlation? Are individuals born in the Year of the Dragon inherently “chosen” or blessed with unexplainable powers? Although many believe it to be so, the straightforward answer is no. Researchers attribute this phenomenon to higher expectations from their parents, with studies suggesting a connection to the Pygmalion effect. In essence, Dragon babies may unknowingly fulfill a self-fulfilling prophecy set before them since birth.

However, as we embark on a journey to unravel the unique strengths and qualities of the other Chinese Zodiac signs, it becomes clear that success and extraordinary traits are not exclusive to Dragon babies alone.
