Looking for an escape room experience for team building, but also wanting to stay in the comfort of your own home like we did during MCO? Then you might want to try something from this list of 4 free suggestions:

The Disappearance of DJ McDee

Clue Cracker Online has a whole host of games, but the one that is currently available for you to play for free is “The Disappearance of DJ McDee”. They recommend keeping a pen and paper handy, and a cool drink to keep you calm as the clock ticks down.

Finding Chris

Breakout was by far the best online escape room experience of all the ones my team tried during MCO. It was a time-constrained, highly-interactive, problem-solving rush featuring a VERY committed non-player actor who didn’t break character no matter how goofy we were in contrast to the seriousness of the scene.

Unfortunately Breakout is not free (price varies according to number of players) and they are not running this particular storyline anymore. However, you can contact them to arrange for a free demonstration and discuss what kind of customised experience you are looking for.

The Crystal Maze

Inspired by a successful UK TV show of the same name from the 1990’s, if you’re looking for a nostalgic hit with a twist of challenges, you can now experience that online and for free, so why not?

Escape the Mailbox

Subscribe to the Access Escape mailing list and they’ll send you one new e-escape game every month (along with a catalogue to past games which you’ll also be able to access!). How much does this subscription cost? Nothing. It’s free. The games are meant for single players but you can easily turn it into a team event.

Most of them are also conveniently only 10-30 minutes long, meaning it won’t take up a HUGE chunk of you and your teammates’ busy schedules. All you have to do is start the email thread then guess the passcodes by replying to unlock your next clue. And at the end of it, you’ll receive a congratulatory email with your time taken so you can race to see who cracks the codes faster!

We hope these suggestions help your team build stronger synergy to problem-solve under pressure. But most importantly, GLHF!
