We started year 2022 with our Transformation 2.0 Town Hall.

This is our first Transformation 2.0 Town Hall in 2022 to kick-start our year with lots of energy and positivity! With so much sharing and updates, you won’t want to miss out on anything!

We will recap anything you might’ve missed from the live event! Yuan started off by reflecting on what we accomplished in 2021 in our Transformation 2.0 journey to be the No.1 Construction Company in Malaysia.

Bravo! These were what we achieved in 2021 from technology, employee engagement and development, staff benefits to winning prestigious awards! Thank you to everyone who worked very hard and go Above and Beyond to achieve our goal – to be the No. 1 Construction Company in Malaysia.

We are thrilled to be the first and only company offering 5G services in Malaysia! We trust that you have received your 5G phone along with its sim card. We are proud of YTL Communications for being at the forefront of technology and allowing us to first experience 5G. Let’s continue to support the initiative of YTL Communications and pass the positive comments about 5G to others around us. Go ahead to scan the QR code to activate the sim card if you haven’t done so!

The Board of Directors extended the Employees Share Option Scheme (ESOS) scheme for us to be the long term stakeholders and benefit from this scheme. We are seeing tremendous growth in the company moving forward. We hope this will motivate everyone to work harder and be the best construction company in Malaysia.

As we embark on a new year, we are also gearing towards our second year of our Transformation 2.0 Plan. Yuan reminded everyone this is the most challenging part of the journey. The excitement of initial energy of setting off the plan has started to weigh down. Therefore, this year, we need to have grit and mental fortitude to stretch ourselves to achieve our goal – to become the No.1 Construction Company in Malaysia.

The main focus area for this year is the telecommunication industry as the entire country is gearing towards 5G. We are looking forward to this development because we can do the full fledged telecommunications work. Our sister company, KJS will be building new telecommunication towers. This will be a big year for our division to support YTL Communication & KJS as we design and build the network.

In terms of solar energy, we are converting our properties such as local KL projects and ERL to be more green. We are also looking to do solar on a large scale. Our Kwasa Land project is going to be launch soon. While in the UK, we are building new homes and a 17000-capacity indoor arena. On top of that, we are project managing the development from KL! How impressive!  The Electrified Double Track Project Gemas-JB is over 80% of completion , and it’s time to kick-start all the remaining balance of work!

The COVID-19 Omicron variant has arrived in Malaysia and is spreading rapidly. However, the recent internal booster shot survey indicates that our take-up rate is low within YTL Construction employees. We urge everyone to take the third booster shot as our work space is both on site and enclosed space like in the office. Please speak to your HODs if you need any assistance in getting the booster shot. Let’s try to get the booster shot by the end of February 2022!

Technology Update

The transition from Google to Microsoft 365 was seamless to add productivity to the company. Thank you to our IT Team who worked very hard  and continuing to do so to enhance our productivity through technology.

To ensure our cybersecurity is at its top, we are introducing the Multi-Factor Authentication (two-step verification) for everyone. With this initiative, you are required to provide an authentication method to log in to your Microsoft 365 accounts. We want to make sure all our data is secured from potential hackers. The MFA will be enforced on 1 March 2022 for the entire company. To enable Multi-Factor Authentication, please download the guide to your device for step-by-step instructions.

We successfully transitioned from Google to Microsoft 365 in 2021. Now, we need to enhance usage of the amazing features Microsoft 365 has in store for us. We are working towards making our work life more efficient by having a central repository for our documents, online forms, and intranet. Please join the IT Roadshow made available to you and ask any questions you may have related to Microsoft 365 features such as the meeting invites, calendars, Teams, OneDrive, etc. The IT team is looking forward to meeting you! The IT Team will also launch the IT Helpdesk initiative at the end of March 2022 to enhance your IT experience. So stay tuned!

Innovation Update

We are working on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)a major digital transformation involving the entire company. The point of ERP is that we have end-to-end solutions from purchasing, design, construction, QS and to accounting. We are one year through the development stage and we will review the requirements soon. This year, we are going to spend a lot of time with the departments to see if digitalising your current process is good enough or should we use this opportunity to revamp the way we do things. Thank you to the ERP team who is working very hard on this initiative!

We are also exploring 4D-Planning and 5D BIM costing to reduce the revision at every stage with early integration of all the departments. This will improve planning and scheduling efficiency and reveal real-time cost visualisation.

Talent Update

Many exciting initiatives and programmes are coming your way! We are working to build an environment that is conducive for you to thrive!

We are looking at revamping our appraisal system with the aim of more transparency. Therefore, we want to hear your feedback on your F2F Appraisal with your HODs so that we can have an overall indication of the feedback. Go ahead and scan this QR code to give your feedback on your appraisals if you haven’t done so and we also appreciate your recommendations that can help you with your career growth in YTL Construction!

Are you excited already for this Mentor-Mentee Programme? This will be an opportunity for everyone to teach and learn from one another. The first batch will be launched in March 2022! The HODs will start off as the mentor and we will have two cohorts of mentees this year.

We are excited to roll out online training to all HODs and department admins at the end of February. We are linking the YTL Learning Academy with Boss I-net so that both HODs and staff will be on one integrated system for better efficiency. In March, we will issue a manual on the mechanism and train all employees on how Boss I-net works with the YTL Learning Academy.

These training courses are available for you in 2022 and will be continually rolled out this year. For technical skill courses, we will work with all the HODs to determine the technical skills requirements for each position.

We also launched the Train the Trainer Programme to produce in-house trainers. There is an abundance of knowledge to be shared within our organisation. If you are looking to share knowledge, improve your presentation skills or how to speak confidently, then this is the programme for YOU! No charges at all!

We have been organising D2D talks throughout last year to understand the functions of each department better. To date, all the departments in YTL Construction have participated in D2D. Moving forward, we are initiating P2P (Project-to-Project) where we will find out more about two different projects in the company. Find out what everyone is doing and it will be exciting. Stay tuned!

At the end of 2021, we initiated a voluntary-based flood relief support group during the flood that was affecting our country and also our staff. Thank you so much to all who volunteered! We packed and distributed mattresses, pillows, blankets, food and medical supplies to our staff. We also helped to clean houses to help lessen the burdens of our colleagues. It was a display of togetherness where we came together to support our family members.

Our Christmas celebration in 2021 and we enjoyed the carolling so much! Special shoutout to Randy Lion Dance for a roaring performance to celebrate Chinese New Year 2022! We were excited that other colleagues from across the Group joined in as well. We are happy to be running programmes not just for ourselves but for the entire YTL Group.

We announced the winners of Employee of the Quarter! Three of them will be walking away with a cash prize of RM 200. We are proud of you and appreciate your tireless contribution to the success of the company. Congratulations to our winners!

Last but not least, we announced the winners of our Workplace Photography Contest! We have talented photographers in our company and here are the captivating shots of our winners! Congratulations and enjoy your stay with our award-winning YTL Hotels!
