YTL Construction and YTL Sustainability collaborated to organise two online webinars in the Go Green Series in August on the topics of two of our favourite marine animals – sea turtles and coral reefs.

Saving Turtles

Did you know that the sex of the sea turtles is determined by the temperature surrounding the eggs when they are incubating?

Turtles are one of the oldest reptile groups in the world. Yet, six of the seven turtle species are considered ‘endangered’ or ‘vulnerable’ by IUCN. If you missed the earlier sessions, check out the webinar recording to hear from Ms. Seh Ling, Principal Officer from Lang Tengah Turtle Watch Project (LTTW) as she shared interesting facts on the different species of turtles, their mating and nesting, threats to their existence and what we can do to help these species survive and thrive.

Coral Reefs Conservation

Did you know that coral reefs are made out of thousands of tiny animals called coral polyps?

When corals are stressed by changes in conditions such as temperature, light, acidity, or nutrients, they expel the symbiotic algae living in their tissues, causing them to bleach and turn completely white. This is a particular concern today as our climate changes and temperatures rise. If you missed the informative Coral Reef Conservation webinar, fret not, as we have the video recording saved for you. Watch it to learn more about coral reef conservation and management presented by Mr. Julian Hyde, the General Manager of Reef Check Malaysia.
