Global Recycling Day

Every year, Global Recycling Day takes place on 18 March to help recognise and celebrate the importance recycling plays in preserving the Earth’s resources and securing the future of the planet. It is a day for action, for the world to come together in educating and changing the mindset of governments, businesses, communities and individuals around the world, to see recyclables not as a type of waste, but as an important resource.

Why Should You Recycle?

The Earth holds billions of tonnes of natural resources which are finite and at some point, in the not too distant future, they will run out. We are mostly using these natural resources without thinking about what will replace them, whilst billions of tonnes of waste are poured into landfills every year. The simple solution to this is the ‘Seventh Resource’ – Recycling.

Recycling helps to:
• Combat climate change
• Conserve the Earth’s six precious primary resources
• Boost local employment around the world
