Some of us might find it hard to get up in the morning, especially when you are not well-rested the night before. Your everyday habits may affect your sleeping pattern and you won’t be able to function at full capacity if you don’t get enough rest. However, making small changes to your routine can boost your mood and energy.

On certain mornings you feel like you could conquer the world and other days it doesn’t feel like that at all. You can improve your day within the first seconds by learning to love your mornings and make it the time that you truly enjoy. Here’s how you can kick the grumps away and make the best of your day.

  1. Resist the snooze: Giving yourself a few extra minutes of sleep after the alarm comes on does more harm than good. Those extra minutes of shut-eye tend to be low quality and light sleep.
  2. Be grateful: Think of a person or something you are grateful for. You are inviting more opportunities into your life by being appreciative first thing in the morning. This will instantly make you start your day with a smile.
  3. Make the bed: It feels good to climb into a nicely-made bed. Making the bed helps get you moving in the morning and this will give you a sense of accomplishment. Plus, it doesn’t take that long to straighten up the covers.
  4. Let in the light: Our body needs natural light to reset its internal clock. Open the curtains or roll up the blinds once you are awake as natural light gets your brain going and keeps your body clock on track.
  5. Fuel Up: Start your day with a power-packed breakfast in order for you to have more energy and get more done all day long. Food is where your body gets energy from, even a light bite can give your body the energy it needs to get going.
